Overview
If Dr. Law recommends braces as part of the journey to your great face, you’ll be happy to know that there are many options to choose from. We can help you determine what will best meet your treatment needs while providing the comfort, convenience and style to fit your life.
How our braces are different: Our Philosophy
Our office subscribes to the Roncone PDS Philosophy of Orthodontics, which allows the patient’s own physiology to help treat malocclusions. Dr. Ron Roncone is a Harvard educated orthodontist with over 45 years of experience in Orthodontics, he created a system that is reliable and complete. It is a simplified six-step system that has at its core the use of:
- Complete diagnostics (CBCT) Cone Beam Computed Tomography which allows 3-D viewing of the jaw joints, airway and structures of the head and neck.
- Titanium Wires: Dr Law uses a special combination of three types of wires which exert very gentle forces, work more quickly than older stainless steel wires and allow for fewer visits and less treatment time.
- Self-Ligating braces: These braces do not need tie wire or coloured elastics to activate the titanium wires. They are self-tightening so you only need to visit our office once every eight weeks. This also helps to keep teeth cleaner, resulting in very few cases of decay due to trapping of food.
Traditional Metal Braces
The most common type of braces, metal braces straighten teeth using metal brackets and archwires. They also provide the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a unique and colorful smile during orthodontic treatment. There’s even the option of gold.
Clear or Ceramic Braces
Made of clear materials such as ceramic, this option is much less visible on teeth than metal braces. They do, however, require special attention to oral hygiene. This braces option tends to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.
Self-Ligating Braces
These braces use brackets that do not require elastic o-rings to hold the archwire in place. Treatment begins with a very light archwire, and progressively moves to thicker wires. Learn more about self-ligating braces here.
Clear Aligners (e.g., Invisalign®)
This approach uses a series of invisible and removable aligners to straighten teeth. The aligners are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Learn more about clear aligners here.
Lingual Braces (e.g., Incognito Braces)
Lingual braces (braces that go on the side of teeth) were originally developed in the early 1980’s. Lingual braces are an option for those who do not want any evidence of braces to be seen.
They are very small (1.5mm thick) and can be used for full orthodontic treatment (Incognito) or (MTM- minor tooth movement), for those with minor crowding of the front teeth or for those who did not wear their retainers so well, …(yes, we know).
The Lingual appliance system is customized for each patient, to provide superior brackets and wires with excellent aesthetics. They require minimal adjustments, are comfortable and produce predictable clinical results. Lingual braces straighten teeth within the same amount of time as metal braces do. Since lingual braces are practically invisible, people see your smile not your braces.

Accelerated Orthodontics
Also known as wilckodontics, this is a new and innovative technology that straightens teeth three to four times faster than conventional methods by combining orthodontics and a moderate surgical procedure. Because it can accomplish in eight weeks what would usually require one year of regular treatment, it’s ideal for people with time constraints, such as an upcoming wedding.
